healthy steps

It was a cloudy winter morning of 2020 in central Italy when Angelo, the owner of one of the most internationally well-known manufacture companies for luxurious shoes, visited the local hospital of his hometown because he felt unwell. It was another hard day for the, by now, tormented by the COVID-19 country.  The emergency room, the SCU, the hallways, even the hospital yard were full of COVID-19 patients who were desperately seeking for help. The nurses and doctors were dressed with all kinds of protective equipment varying from special uniforms to all kind of medical masks. And behind those masks, you could see the exhaustion on their faces. But their eyes… Their eyes shined with strength and optimism. They spoke of an undoubtable faith that they will come out as the winners against this pandemic. Angelo, even though a little skeptical, was waiting patiently for his turn to be examined.  When, suddenly, he saw next to him a doctor giving into the exhaustion and collapsing. The same doctor who was supposed to examine him….

-“I can’t do this. I simply can’t do this anymore. My own legs cannot support me anymore. I want to give my all to these patients but I am exhausted…..” 

That is what he heard the doctor saying before he landed, unconscious, on the chair next to him. 

Angelo felt helpless sitting there, he got emotionally charged, but his character gave him the strength to call out for a nurse to provide first aid. 

When his turn came to be examined, he was lucky enough to be tested negative to the virus and he quickly got discharged. 

But on the way to his work place, he couldn’t stop thinking of the doctor’s words:

 

-“I can’t do this. I simply can’t do this anymore. My own legs cannot support me anymore. I want to give my all to these patients but I am exhausted…..” 

His compassionate but determined nature made him feel that NOW was the right moment for him to contribute his help to the doctors and nurses. He immediately called for a meeting with the department of research and development of his company and gave very clear instructions: 

 

-“We need to help our doctors and nurses, we need to create a medical shoe that will be anatomically comfortable, non-slippery, will be sturdy and from good quality material so that the doctors will be able to walk quickly and wear it for plenty of hours without getting tired.  

At the same time, it needs to be antimicrobial to prevent germs from being spread while they are walking around, easy to clean and, of course, elegant like the shoes we produce.” 

Vanessa’s eyes were shining with happiness (a young scientist and owner of the patent Noba3Technology):

-“YES, we have the knowledge, we have the technology, we have the experience, we have the will and above all, science is on our side” 

-“NOW WE CAN DO IT” she added.
